- The Archives is an international peer-reviewed journal published 12 times a year.
- The Archives reaches over 12,000 U.S. physicians and surgeons monthly - over 15,000 worldwide.
- The Archives' new editor is Julie Ann Freischlag, MD, who envisions the journal as a sounding board and forum for all the changes that are occurring in surgery today, including training paradigms, the 80-hour work week, women and minorities in surgery, malpractice concerns, and universal access to health care.
- The Archives' impact factor has steadily increased over the past several years to a score of 3.1, ranking it among the top ten currently published surgical journals. Over the past five years, the NESS has experienced an average 75% acceptance rate of its submitted manuscripts from the Annual Meeting, exceeding the average acceptance rate for unsolicited manuscripts to the Archives.
